Symphony NOT Sympathy

One cup attitude
A dash of disbelief
A tablespoon of misconception
A bucket load of grief

A slab of twisted logic
Whipped into the mix
Society adds its 2 pence worth
Look - the new quick-fix!

Tambourine girl pushed up-front
No one else would volunteer
The course of least resistance
Not a choice – more a career

She was never the conductor
The architect of sound
She was never worthy of the synergy
Her place was never found

A disrespectful opus
The hum of distant rage
A chorus line of consensual silence
Whimpered from the stage

It was never in her contract
She just didn’t say “No”
A genetic imposition
To always “go with the flow”

Those days are over now
She’s back where she belongs
Occasional accompaniment
To eclectic songs

Every player is essential
Every note a thread to weave
A tapestry of music
Bold magic to conceive

The Martyr’s left the building
The Conductor has arrived
The Sympathy is over
The Symphony’s survived
