Evolutionary Maze
When you have reached the end of the rainbow and there is nothing in the pot
When you have striven for a dream only to find that it is not
When you have come to a place of emptiness and you don’t know what to do
Turn inward my friend – all you have left is you.

When you find yourself in the desert wondering where to go from here
When all you feel is a hollow ache, the sting of a tear
When you have what you thought you wanted and nothing seems true
Turn inward my friend – all you have left is you

When you struggle to believe you can make a difference after all
When all you’ve ever dreamed about suddenly seems so small
When you’re jaded by innocence and nothing seems new
Turn inward my friend – all you have left is you.

What can I do to ease the sadness that cascades across my soul?
Is there an answer to the sorrow that doesn’t have a name?
What do you give the control freak that doesn’t have control?
What lesson am I meant to get that necessitates the game.

Blow away the blues, the cobwebs of my thought
Enjoy this moment – be it a happy one or not
Take pleasure in the little things – a stranger’s smile, a sky that’s blue
Turn outward my friend – all you need is you

Stop the incessant chatter that occupies my mind
The tortured analysis – there is nothing to find
Remember where you’ve been; be grateful for the view
Turn outward my friend – all you need is you

It’s OK to have those down days – its part of who I am
The polarity of my possibility has it’s own unique charm!
I don’t need to know the future, the detail of my days
Be still my friend all is as it should be in the evolutionary maze!
